My journey to publishing!!

For over a year I tried to get an agent so I could publish my manuscripts traditionally. I queried a story that was very dear to me. It was inspired by my nephew. But I realized that there was so much of the story that I just wasn’t willing to change. When you seek an agent and find one to rep you, a lot of the time your story will go through many changes. Many of my published friends have said that their stories totally changed after all of the edits their agent required, and then the edits the publishing company required. But the thought of self-publishing terrified me. I definitely did NOT think it was even an option because I didn’t think I could afford it. Then a friend self-published her book, and we got to talking about it. It was then that I realized it was not only attainable, but it was affordable too. I dove right in. There were so many steps involved. Once I worked out my manuscript into what text I wanted on what page, I worked on very detailed illustrator notes. My next step was to find an illustrator… This was where the fun began.. My illustrator is currently finishing my book. It will be fully complete in the next few days, and published by the end of the month. Or possibly before that! My illustrator has brought my vision to life. His sketches are EXACTLY what I envisioned in my head for every single page. I have been amazed every step of the way. I am so excited to see how my final mock up looks, and I am even more excited that in just a few short weeks I will get to hold my book, my baby, in my hands. I will update more soon!!
